Kent’s Thoughts and Approach to Lessons

“The format used is what I like to call “Learning Drum-ish.” Learning to become a drummer is very much like learning a language. Lessons will be focused on technique and connecting with the drummer inside all of us.

I will guide you to not only being able to play your favorite songs but also having the ability to be creative and expressive behind the drums by teaching you the basics to playing drums using the music you love. You will become a truly musical drummer able to play all styles.  I will break down the lessons to your skill level from how to hold a stick to, the setup of your drums, to how you should feel behind your kit.

My teaching technique is very inspiring and fun for all ages. You’ll find that the rhythm gained from our lessons will also help you in other aspects of life. It’s truly the fastest (My students have often played along to songs after one lesson), most fun, and most inspiring way to learn how to truly become a “Drummer.” Rhythm is Life!”

- Kent Aberle

Kent is a drum master. He has the innate ability to inspire others to mastery in percussion. My son has flourished with Kent’s guidance. His skill level has at least doubled in the six months he has worked with Kent. I wish all music teachers had Kent’s passion and expertise.”

“The best way I can describe Kent is as a zen master.  He understands music and rhythm on a degree that is far beyond technique.  He understands the oneness that must occur between a musician and their music.  He has shown me about the subtleties of rhythm that other teachers have failed to ever even touch.  He understands the connection between all music, and makes learning different genres of music easy.  He teaches you how to create music, instead of just how to reproduce what is printed in a book.  Most importantly, he shows you how to learn.  He showed me how I don’t need books or charts to learn songs.  He taught me how to listen.  Kent is a great teacher that will show you everything you want to learn about drumming, and probably some things you didn’t know existed.”
